Horses
We are is central to many horse riding events that can be enjoyed by all ages. Whether it’s Agricultural shows, dressage, showing, show jumping or eventing, there’s something for everyone !
For those of you who like horse racing (or even if you jus want to experience something a little different !) – Ayr Racecourse and Hamilton Racecourse are only a 35 minute drive away. Check for racing dates and special ‘family days’ on their websites.
Winnie (picture) is my own DWB horse. Now we are both getting older we enjoy hacking out and playing in our horse arena.
British Eventing One Day Events are available too. These are horse events where you can see dressage, show jumping and cross country to a very high standard, all on the one day! There are usually stalls and things for the children at these events too.
There are also many local agricultural shows on throughout the summer months. The Royal Highland Show is one of my favourites (end June). An enormous agricultural show that has cattle, tractors, sheep, chickens, flowers, music, garden furniture stands, shops, wild bird displays, shops, show jumping, the list goes on……
